J. Regan Hutson

For J. Regan Hutson, writing for RedFence has been a natural extension of photographing live music. Originally from the Southeast, Regan developed an appreciation for bluegrass and other traditional music genres while attending college in Appalachia. His articles focus on personal experiences of attending concerts and events such as the Railroad Revival Tour. Now a resident of Pasadena, CA, Regan works in IT while continuing to pursue photography as an artistic outlet. In addition to photographing landscapes, Regan enjoys backpacking, fly-fishing, and other outdoor pursuits.

In April, 2011, three bands climbed aboard a pair of old train cars and traveled the rails across the Southwest. Dubbed “The Railroad Revival Tour”, the line-up consisted of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Mumford & Sons, and Old Crow Medicine Show.
