Day One
by James Roland

The day started rough – forty minutes into day one of the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books and there was no internet, no coordinator, no media passes, no schedules.

But soon we met some great people.

Author Aimee Bender grants us a picture.

We also captured some great “man on the street” interviews. Good for a chuckle and a bit lighter than the literary fare around us.

The festival’s unofficial godfather, Ray Bradbury, was there as usual.

A testament to old school technique surrounded by bloggers and casual cellphone cinematographers.

And we snagged some GREAT interviews, like Shelley Jackson.

Shelley is a writer, visual artist, and schoolteacher for the dead (seriously, tune back in tomorrow for the video interview!).
