I can’t say for sure what the song “I Say Fever” is about, but this video manages a sharp, witty little storyline that kept my attention and left me grinning at the end. The surreal animation takes a moment’s adjustment, but Director/Animator Stefan Nadelman does not insult us with randomness or absurdity. Every element of this piece plays tightly into the whole.
Nadelman, a prolific commercial animator and winner of a 2003 Sundance prize, teamed up for this video with Portland indie rocker Brent Knopf. The musician usually plays as part of the the trio Menomena, but this song comes from his solo project, Ramona Falls. Knopf reportedly worked with 35 other musicians to create the Ramona Falls debut album, titled Intuit.
