To our Beloved Latvian
by Titus Gee

This blog is for the one person in Latvia who visited www.redfenceproject.com last week.

To our beloved Latvian,

That’s right. We know you are out there.
By mystical means known only to the mighty Webmistress, RedFence has seen that tiny binary stream that shot out from your computer and, like a bee finding nectar in a rare flower, settled on our budding enterprise of art.
You, who hail from a country I learned about in 9th grade geography and marveled that I had never heard its name before but yet I really liked to say it.
You, who according to Wikipedia are probably Lutheran and related to my Nordic ancestors or else descended from the great Russian motherland, and who may enjoy going to the country for the festival of St. John the Baptist, jumping over campfires and wearing a wreath of oak leaves on your head if your name happens to be Janis (how many ‘fern flowers’ did you find this year, eh?). And who also, according to that great cache of voluntary knowledge, may well be woken at a quarter to eight in the morning by a singing lady celebrating the free speech of women, sometime next summer.
You, who probably have a great job and a burgeoning gross domestic product of your very own.
You, of all the 2,307,000 Latvians, who reached out and found our art site and hopefully liked it and made a bookmark or added us to your favorites.
You have not gone unnoticed.
We, at RedFence, think of you as our neighbor, brother (or sister), and friend — as our Latvian.
This blog is for you.
Welcome home.

Also, a quick shout out to our visitors from Canada, China, Switzerland, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Czech Republic, European Union, Cambodia, Italy, France, South Korea, Denmark, India, Vietnam, Sweden, Chile, Greece, Latvia, Thailand, Ireland, Poland, Netherlands, Finland, Belgium.
Welcome!
And, uh, don’t forget to bring your friends.
