The Darjeeling What?

The Darjeeling Limited — dar-g-ling….

Come on people, how hard is it really? It’s amazing how many different mispronunciations of darjeeling I heard while standing in line for a free screening on October 4. The seats were very limited for this funny, zany movie. There were only 200 seats available in the theater, and because I got there two hours early I was able to get one of them. But for the other 300 people that didn’t make it in the door – I am sorry.

I have to say that though I’m a movie fan, I have a terrible memory for who directed what movie. So when I saw the trailers, the thing that hooked me into wanting to see the movie were Owen Wilson and Adrien Brody; Owen Wilson because I love his dry delivery and Adrien Brody because he is an amazing actor. Sorry Mr. Anderson! Well, all that said, my two hours wait was worth it!

With Jason Schwartzman, Adrien Brody, and Owen Wilson, it was an hour and a half of hilarity as they traveled through India trying to find their mother and some kind of spiritual enlightenment, but ultimately reuniting their brotherly bond after not seeing each other for a year following their father’s death. The limited commercial release started October 5; so until the nationwide release on October 26, showings were few and far between.
